Here are some resources to help you understand the world of refugees from the Nazis and the American couple that risked their lives to help save them.

WNYC’s Leonard Lopate talked to Filmmakers Ken Burns and Artemis Joukowsky to discuss their new film,“Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War.” The new documentary tells the story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, a Unitarian minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who risked their lives to save Jews and other refugees from the Nazis. The documentary premiers Tuesday Sept. 20 at 9 PM on PBS (Channel 13). Here is a preview of the film:
