
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone will join Long Island Wins and its initiative, Welcoming Long Island, to celebrate National Welcoming Week, reaffirming that Suffolk County is a welcoming place for all immigrants, and to highlight their contributions to our community.
This event is part of Welcoming America’s National Welcoming Week, a nation-wide event where Welcoming America and its partners host events that bring together immigrants and U.S.-born community members in a spirit of unity through service projects and other events.
This will be a significant year as Long Island Wins, in partnership with Suffolk County, recognizes five prominent individual/organizations in the County for their outstanding efforts in welcoming and supporting Suffolk County’s diverse immigrant community.
Honorees:
– Marian Russo, Executive Director of Community Development Agency, Village of Patchogue.
– Seferino Cotzojay and Richard Olsen-Harbich of Bedell Cellars.
– Rural-Migrant Ministry of Riverhead.
– Central Islip School District.
– HerStory.
