The third in a string of legislative victories this week was the passage by both houses of the New York State Legislature of a bill protecting the personal information collected by COVID contact tracers from access by ICE and Homeland Security. The lead organization in this important effort was the New York Civil Liberties Union and the campaign was supported by the member groups of the New York Immigration Coalition.

The bill (S8450-C/A10500-C) are important because for those exposed to someone who tests positive for Coronavirus to cooperate with contact tracers they must know that the information they disclose will bot be used by ICE of other law enforcement.
