Portuguese Dance Classes at Mineola Public Library
Port Washington, NY—The Mineola Public Library and Long Island Traditions are pleased to announce a special dance class series happening this fall October 28 – December 10 featuring master Portuguese dance teachers Tony DaSilva and Michele Da Costa. There will be four classes taking place at the library on Saturdays, October 29, November 12, December 3 and 10. Each 1.5 hour class will begin at 11:30am and is suitable for ages 7 – 70. There will be a public performance on December 10 at 2pm featuring Ranchos Juventude.
Nearly 24 dancers perform with Rancho Juventude, directed by Manny Carlos and Tony Da Silva. They specialize in the colorful traditions of the Minho region of northern Portugal, the point of origin for many Mineola Portuguese residents.
The program is free but space will be limited to the first 25 who reserve their space. You can come to one class or to all of them. To register contact the library at 516-746 8488, ext. 2.
The Mineola Public Library is located at 195 Marcellus Road, Mineola. Funding for this program was made possible in part with funds from the National Endowment for the Arts and the NY State Council on the Arts.
