Today’s New York Times has an in-depth article on the representation crisis for Central American child refugees. Three thousand child refugees have arrived on Long Island, but only about 15% of them have been able to be represented by the area’s nonprofits. Because children are no longer arriving at the border in photogenic numbers, many Long Islanders don’t realize that there is a continuing legal struggle for these children’s future.
