DREAMers can now renew their DACA applications.

The new Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewal form has finally been released.

According to the instructions, if you have already been granted DACA you should file your renewal 120 days before your work permit expires. If you have less than 120 days remaining on your permit, or if it expires, you should renew as quickly as possible. If you file more than 150 days before your card expires, you application will not be accepted. A $465 fee to Homeland Security must be paid to renew and you have to submit three USCIS forms, which you can find here.

If you need help filling out this application, most non-profits will charge between $150 and $200. Private attorneys should not charge more than $400 for this service. If someone asks for more money than that, go to a different lawyer. In most cases, it should take a lawyer less than two hours to complete the renewal of DACA.

Also, please never use a “Notario” to do legal work. They are not lawyers and are not authorized to perform legal services.

When you apply to renew for DACA you do not have to submit additional documents unless you have been placed into removal proceedings, have been arrested, or had other criminal matters arise.
