California began issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants this year, and the program is already a big success. According to the New York Times, the state has issued licenses to 443,000 immigrants this year. California is one of a dozen states allowing undocumented immigrants to drive legally. Officials believe that as many as a million more immigrants will apply under this program.
New York continues to be behind in this area, with no licenses for the undocumented.
