Today is a call-in day targeting “the Long Island Six” State Senators to urge them to support the Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act (S1747). Today we expect the New York Assembly to pass the Driver’s Licenses bill, but we are still short in the State Senate. We need six Long Island State Senators to become co-sponsors. We only have one week left. Here are their names and phone numbers:
Senator Todd Kaminsky (516) 766-8383
Senator Kevin Thomas (516) 739-1700
Senator John Brooks (516) 882-0630
Senator Monica Martinez (631) 360-3356
Senator Anna Kaplan (516) 746-5924
Senator Jim Gaughran (516) 922-1811
Script:
Hello, my name is (your name) and I am calling from (your community) to express my support for restoring access to driver’s licenses for undocumented New Yorkers. It’s the right thing to do for immigrant communities and helps improve road safety for all of us here on Long Island. It’s in everyone’s interest to make sure drivers know the rules of the road and are properly licensed, registered, and insured.
Can we count on the Senator to support the Drivers License and Privacy Act (bill number S1747)?
