Two weeks ago the Suffolk Legislature passed a bill to extend the same language access law covering all other county departments to the Suffolk County jails. Resolution 1016 was passed overwhelmingly in a special meeting of the legislature. Groups like Jobs With Justice, LILAC, and the New York Immigration Coalition worked hard to successfully pass this bill. While we understand that County Executive Steve Bellone has voiced no opposition to the legislation, he must sign it by next week for it to become law.

Please Call County Executive Bellone 631-853-4000 to tell him to sign the bill into law.

 Hello, my name is_____________.

I am calling to urge County Executive Bellone to sign Resolution 1016 to Expand Language Access Law in Suffolk County. This important legislation would ensure that Limited English Proficiency individuals held in County correctional facilities have access to translation into the six most common non-English languages
