First-Ever NYIC Long Island Legislative Brunch Held in Brentwood

The New York Immigration Coalition held its first-ever in-person Legislative Brunch on Tuesday in Brentwood. More than sixty representatives of immigrant community groups and service organizations were joined by Senator John Brooks, Legislator Sammy Gonzalez, and Assembly Member Taylor Darling at Essex House in Brentwood.

Panels were held on the ongoing Haitian and Afghan refugee arrivals on Long Island, on the need for the State Legislature to pass Healthcare for All, and on the final push for a Path to Citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants. At the end of the Brunch, attendees sent more than fifty e-mails to Senator Chuck Schumer calling on him to keep his promise to provide permanent relief to the undoocumented.
