The Truth About Immigration Detention Centers

Detention centers are the institutions that house undocumented immigrants prior to their hearing in immigration court, but because of the court’s massive backlog, many immigrants spend years in these centers. Dena Takruri, a journalist with AJ+, did a short investigative report on these detention centers, following a woman named Adela and her family as they go to visit her husband who has been held in the Eloy Detention Center for two years. Takruri also speaks with former detainees and lawyers about some of the abuses that go on in these detention centers.
