Andrea Arrubla, a New York photographer and poet, grew up on Long Island as an immigrant from Colombia. Living in New York and trying to learn how to paint, Arrubla turned to using the accessible materials around her to produce her art. Among them was cardboard!

Being an immigrant from Colombia and a gay woman living in New York, the state of the world around her started, inevitably, to sink in and that is reflected in her art.

“Still Absorbing the Good News” is Arrubla’s first solo show and she explains, “it’s a way to tell stories of other people you don’t know, respectfully.”
