The Department of Homeland Security has finally published the official Temporary Protected Status (TPS) re-registration announcement for Hondurans. The department announced that TPS would be extended for one final 18-month period back on May 9, but it did not publish the official notices for re-registration to begin until June 7.
The re-registration period runs from June 5 to August 6. Any Hondurans with TPS are urged to file their renewals right away. Employment authorization for those with Honduran TPS is automatically extended until January 1, 2019. The renewal period applies only to those who already have TPS. The Honduran TPS program will terminate on January 5, 2020 as part of President Trump’s ongoing attack on the TPS program.
Catholic Charities (631-789-5210) and CARECEN (516-489-8330 and 631-273-8721) are providing assistance in filing renewals for a nominal fee.
You can find out more about the renewal at the USCIS website.
