In the past several weeks, activists across New York have been working in support of the New York DREAM Act, a piece of legislation that would allow undocumented immigrants to access state aid for college.
Why does it matter? Hear firsthand at “Undocumented, Unafraid, and Unapologetic on Long Island,” an event that will feature a segment of the documentary Papers and a panel discussion with several undocumented students from the area.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at SUNY Old Westbury and is co-organized by Long Island Wins and Long Island Immigrant Students Advocates in partnership with the American Studies department at the college.
