The next part in our series of videos showing the need for comprehensive immigration reform is a music video featuring an acoustic version of a hit song.

Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” has hit number 1 on the charts in more than 63 countries worldwide. But while that version is an upbeat, electronic dance song, a new acoustic version of the song from the vocalist of the original, Aloe Blacc, is more somber and carries with it a very important message.

The music video for the song is beautiful and inspiring, and it also features a cast of actors who have personally dealt with the consequences of our broken immigration system.

Director Alex Rivera is a filmmaker who, for the past fifteen years, has been telling new, urgent, and visually adventurous Latino stories.

The video features Agustín Chiprez Alvarez, who is a day laborer and has been in the U.S. for 18 years.

Margarita Reyes is a Los Angeles actress and producer. Despite being born in the U.S., Margarita was deported as a child alongside her mother. Much of her work focuses on the issues of Latino and immigrant youth.

Hareth Andrade Ayala is an immigrants’ rights leader in the state of Virginia. She has spent her teen years traveling across the nation to share her family’s story, and recently has been fighting to stop her own father’s deportation.

With immigrant reform taking center stage in this new music video, it will shed more light on this important issue. Please share this video with your friends and followers and let’s get 11 million aspiring Americans out of the shadows.
