We often don’t realize it, but our country has had a long history of exclusionary immigration policy.

We’ve excluded entire races and ethnicities from attaining U.S. Citizenship, even if they were born here. Today, we’re senselessly tearing families apart through our broken immigration system.
This video from the New York Times goes through the history of our nation’s immigration debate, including our government’s past efforts to keep immigrants out of the country, and links past Presidents’ immigration policies to today’s debate.
