Texas Trump Ally Sues to End DACA

Texas and six other conservative states have filed suit in Federal court to demand an end to the DACA program. The Trump administration had used the threat of a Texas lawsuit last September as an excuse to announce the end of DACA. When that termination was blocked by three Federal courts, the Trump administration searched for other avenues to use to end DACA’s protections for 700,000 young immigrants.

This Texas challenge appears to be the means chosen.

Texas was joined by Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina and West Virginia in the lawsuit. All of these states have conservative state governments that have taken an anti-immigrant stand. Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General behind the suit, is pushing a Lone Star version of Trumpism.
