Young advocates are letting their voices be heard by hosting rallies and walkouts in Washington D.C. and Maryland, with students there joining with more than 350 people from more than a dozen states, including New York.
As part of the nationwide Operation Dream Act Now, the demonstrators are urging Congress to pass a clean Dream Act immediately to protect more than 800,000 young people now left in legal limbo and fear after the Trump administration terminated the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program more than two months ago.
Advocates are demanding a Dream Act free of “compromises,” including no additional border security and refraining from using Dreamers’ parents as bargaining chips.
