On Friday September 19th, Welcoming Long Island and LI Jobs with Justice will be hosting an interfaith prayer service and press event titled “Whoever Welcomes Children, Welcomes Me.” The event is being held as a part of Welcoming America’s National Welcoming Week- a national weeklong celebration that brings together immigrants and U.S born community members in a spirit of unity. With the recent tensions that have arisen on Long Island over the proposal to house immigrant children fleeing violence in their homeland, it will be an opportunity for Long Island clergy leaders to call for compassion for the children, and their allies.
Please join us on September 19th to show your support for the children and to help make a statement that Long Islanders are compassionate and welcoming to all. Our communities are strongest when everyone who lives in them feels welcome.
