Tell the Suffolk County Legislature To Vote Down Anti-Immigrant Bills From Steve Levy [PETITION]

The Long Island Immigrant Alliance is calling on supporters of immigrant rights to come to the Suffolk County Legislature on Tuesday, June 7, at 9:30am to speak out against two new anti-immigrant bills proposed by outgoing Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy.

Levy turned Suffolk into a center for hatred against Latinos in 2008 with a raft of a half-dozen bills targeting immigrants. Now, with his term ending in disgrace, he wants to shift the focus from his own shady financial dealings with county contractors and re-direct it towards his scapegoats of choice.

In coming days, I’ll provide extensive analysis of the two Levy bills, but frankly, I think the main message is “Enough Is Enough.” Levy needs to leave office without further damaging the fabric of Suffolk society by stirring up the kinds of hatreds that led to the killing of Marcleo Lucero.

Click here for directions to the legislature (W.H. Rogers Legislature Building, 725 Veterans Memorial Highway, Smithtown). When you get there, tell the clerk that you want to fill out a card so you can speak during the public portion of the legislative meeting.
