The Long Island Civic Engagement Table just sent me the following appeal for volunteers:
Dear friends and colleagues,
Last week, Joye Brown in Newsday deemed the debate we co-hosted with Noticia “historic.” Now, we want to make sure that the same is said about this election!
Tomorrow is Election Day, and we’re working very hard to make sure that working-class communities of color in Suffolk County get out to the polls and have their votes counted.
I’m writing to ask whether you have two hours (or even one!) to help with our efforts.
There are several ways in which you can be involved, which I’m listing below:
1) Knock on doors of voters
2) Make phone calls to voters
3) Give people rides to the polls
4) Volunteer for a shift at the bilingual voter protection line we are operating with LatinoJustice.
Will you join our effort and give of your time in one of these ways?
If you are free at any point from 6am – 9pm (the poll hours) to volunteer, we would be thrilled to have you on-board and would provide all the preparation you need. Whatever time you have, we would be enormously appreciative of your help in making sure that the communities about which we all care so much have their voices heard this Election Day.
To let me know how you would like to be involved, please give me a call: 917-494-5922.
Many thanks for your consideration, and for all you do,
