Prepare your community for public charge! The NYIC is offering a unique training opportunity for service providers to become resident experts on public charge. The NYIC Public Charge Training of Trainers program will provide participants with an intensive one-day training, educational resources in public charge, and access to ongoing technical assistance from our expert staff. The program is geared towards non-legal staff who interact with community members who may be fearful of using public benefits or healthcare for which they are legally eligible, because of public charge concerns.
The package of training, resources and technical assistance is geared to equip staff to do the following:
- Train colleagues and volunteers who work with community members on public charge
- Serve as a resource for co-workers when public charge questions arise in the course of their work with community members
- Incorporate public charge information into their community education efforts (whether as a standalone training or into the organization’s larger community education work)
The training will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 9am to 5pm in at the offices of Catholic Charities Immigrant Services, Diocese of Rockville Centre, 143 Schleigel Boulevard, Amityville, NY
