Executive Action Update: Nov. 17

Over the weekend, President Barack Obama stood strong in support of his plan to issue executive actions for immigration reform. No new timeline or details about who and what the action will cover have been announced. However, Obama did dismiss the threat of a government shutdown.

Even some Republicans agreed that shutting down the government like they did last year would be a bad idea. CNN reported yesterday that former presidential candidate Mitt Romney said there were “more productive ways” to assert themselves on the issue. His thoughts were echoed by several GOP congressmen, and Sens.-elect James Lankford of Oklahoma and Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Stay tuned to Long Island Wins for more details and information about the executive action as it happens.
