The jury that convicted Shawna Forde of two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of attempted murder in the first-degree will reconvene today to decide if the death penalty should be considered in her case.

Prosecutors are expected to emphasize aggravating factors such as the age of Brisenia Flores, an elementary school student, and the economic motive behind the killing. The defense will emphasize Forde’s troubled background and her history of substance abuse.

Each juror will be asked if the death penalty should be considered. If a single juror disagrees with it being imposed, the judge will sentence Forde to life in prison.
