Forum To Discuss Ethnic Targeting and Post-Election Fears on December 1st

It’s no secret that hate crimes have increased in the weeks since the election of Donald Trump. Many Long Island communities are worried about how their lives will be affected by this new wave of ethnic targeting. In order to work towards safety, security and respect for these communities, the Islamic Center of Long Island is holding an open forum on December 1 at 7 P.M. The forum will include members of the Nassau County law enforcement in order to discuss what mechanisms are in place to assure the safety of all residents.

The forum will take place at the Islamic Center of Long Island, located at 835 Brush Hollow Road in Westbury. Professor Arthur Dobrin of Hofstra University and Leader Emeritus of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island will moderate the forum. This meeting will be the first of a monthly series of forums held in various community centers and houses of worship to communicate ideas between residents and law enforcement agencies as well as deal with any unease or stress as a result of ethnic targeting.

All members of the community are welcome to come in and voice their concerns, ask questions, and support one another. For more information, check out the event flyer below:
