Join Welcoming Long Island at the Port Jefferson Village Art Walk and Pet Adoption Awareness Weekend on Sunday, May 22 (121 W. Broadway, 1-5pm, free), where the campaign will celebrate the diversity of the Port Jefferson community.

Welcoming Long Island—a campaign of Long Island Wins—is a grassroots effort to promote mutual respect and cooperation between foreign-born and native-born Long Islanders, and is part of the national Welcoming America network.

The campaign is active in several towns and villages across Long Island, including Port Jefferson, and the art festival will be the first event involving the committee for that village.

Once you’re at the festival, head to the front of the Port Jefferson Free Library where Welcoming Long Island will showcase artwork of both immigrant and native-born artists in an effort to celebrate the range of diversity in the community.
