I spent last weekend in a fantastic video production bootcamp at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, trying to learn how to create videos that go beyond talking heads and mysteriously placed B-roll.
I was lucky enough to be partnered up with Eliana López, the editor of the local Spanish-language newspaper Noticia (and a former LIW reporting fellow), who graciously gave me permission to publish the video I shot of her.
In the piece, Eliana, who has lived in New York City for the last seven years, remembers her first experience riding in a “chiva,” a colorful, rustic bus typically found in rural parts of Colombia.
