The National Day Laborer Organizing Network, together with the Ford Foundation, will host a special screening of the acclaimed film A Better Life, starring Academy Award-nominated actor Demián Bichir as a day laborer striving to provide better opportunities for his son.

Following the screening, a panel of distinguished guests, including A Better Life director Chris Weitz, Emmy Award-winning PBS anchor and NPR host Maria Hinojosa, and National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) executive director Pablo Alvarado, will discuss how director Chris Weitz came to make this film, the challenges he faced, and the power of film to change perceptions. Members from seven day-laborer organizations in the New York area will bring the perspective of local laborers to enrich the discussion and ground it in the lived experience of workers.
