Music for St. Patrick’s Day: Cherish the Ladies [VIDEO]

With St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday, I have spent a lot of time this week listening to music from Ireland and from the Irish diaspora.

One of my favorite Irish music groups is Cherish the Ladies. The band mixes Irish and Irish American musicians and plays both traditional and original pieces. As they often play both in New York City and out here on Long Island, I strongly recommend you see them if you have the chance.

One of their songs that I listened to this week was “The Back Door” about the dreams of an undocumented immigrant who “didn’t see the Statue of Liberty” but who came in through America’s “back door.”
