Craving some merengue dancing and traditional Dominican dishes like empanadas and quipes, a fried pastry filled with meaty goodness?

Then head to the 2012 Dominican Day Parade in Midtown Manhattan on August 12, where you’ll find floats with carnival costumes, food vendors, and plenty of dancing, both merengue and bachata.

The Dominican Day Parade has been celebrated since 1982, and symbolizes the anniversary of the beginning of the war for Dominican independence from Spain in 1863.

Each year, thousands of participants and observers come from all over the New York City area and beyond to show their Dominican Pride. Join them!

The parade takes place between 36th and 52nd streets. For more information about the Dominican Day Parade, click here.
