Kielbasa, polka dancing, handmade crafts, and a small carnival came to Riverhead on August 20 for the 37th annual Polish Town Street Fair and Polka Festival. The weather was beautiful and people all around were sipping lemonade and enjoying the bouncy polka songs and dances.
According to census statistics, there were 481 Polish immigrants in Riverhead in 2000; they accounted for 22 percent of the town’s immigrant population.
